Castro Sonnet

His refusal to negotiate with us
Was a sign of his floundering way
That started a diplomatic fuss
As Cuba seemed in disarray.
The hope was that Castro was weak
His power seemed to be slipping.
The world saw an end to his winning streak,
But the bearded one knew they were tripping
Because he would survive the Eighties
In time and in age,
Managing to remain weighty
While causing the world rage.

That leader from the Pearl of the Antilles
Is still out there given people the willies.
