Mr. Scott wanted to serve
Only his faculties where somewhat off
Something made his behavior curve
Leading the Army and Navy to order him to takeoff
He would again show his faculties off
When conscription brought him to the recruiter’s preserve
Where he was asked to turn his head and cough
And asked if he had a soldier’s nerve.
Because conscription was there to preserve
The ranks and Mr. Scott now fit the cutoff
And he answered that he had a soldier’s nerve
This time which the Marines did not scoff.
