So hot,
The courts and the air,
I guess that’s Wilmington
In the middle of June.
Dudes from the neighborhood are not deterred,
They bring more than enough hot air
To drown out the noise
Overhead on I-95.
There are stories of playground legends,
Jordan-LeBron debates, and
Tales of caution from, Russ,
Who preaches from a wheelchair.
The commentary provides a freshness
So missing from NBA telecasts.
These guys play under an interstate umbrella
With a recklessness befitting the conversation
And allowing an escape from chaos of the neighborhood
That is just starting to stir up on the hill.
